Insanely crowded weekends...two lane hwy flooded w/ worst drivers in the US

Full review

If you're choosing a spot to ski/snowboard in WA, I'd tell you to go here... Stevens Pass is roughly 85 miles from my home in Seattle. I'm a transplant from the SE US. I never learned to snowboard until I got here. I'm 38, and only in my third season. I credit the terrain on this mountain for my progression. I go here 90% of the time for the most consistent low temps, snow, and navigable terrain. Regarding other spots WA has to offer, Crystal has better facitilities and more vert, but getting to the goods takes way more time (especially on a snowboard) and it's not quite as cold. Baker on a pow day is unbeatable, but it gets rained on frequently, and it's a three hour drive from Seattle. Baker requires stars aligning and an intimate knowledge of the mountain to experience it to the fullest. The Summit at Snoqualmie is less than an hour away, but gets rained on even more than Baker and has very limited expert terrain. Stevens is small, apres is limited, and the drive there can be infuriating. The mountain and the staff are, however, on point. I'm fortunate enough to get many weekdays off, and I avoid all the nonsensical overcrowding and parking nightmares that occur only on the weekends. I've been to Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Jackson Hole in the past couple years and I have to say that I appreciate Stevens even more now. Arapahoe Basin was my favorite spot in CO because it reminded me of Stevens. If your a no frills powder hound, Stevens is going to deliver the most enjoyable days per season in WA. It's also super easy to navigate and get in run after run. If you're a park rider, Stevens is legit and the only real choice in WA. You can also get your board or skis waxed on the mountain in 20min most days, which I have yet to find anywere else. Jackson Hole is the only place I've been that I'd rate higher than Stevens, but Stevens provided me all the skills to enjoy JHMR to the fullest. Now I live for steep, deep, untracked runs, and I find them quite often at my "home" mountain. All of WA is esentially feast or famine when it comes to snow. We get tons, but quality can be dicey everywhere. Stevens is my spot because it's locale stays the coldest and most consistent.
