Oberammergau Ski Resorts FAQ

There are many different winter sports activities you can try during your winter vacation in Oberammergau: alpine skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are possible. The ski area Kolben is well suited for families because 90 % of the slopes are easy, blue marked pistes that are also avalanche secure. Beginners can gain their first experiences on skis in the skiing school Ammertal. The Laber on the other hand is one of Bavaria’s more challenging ski areas. It is especially popular with the free riders. The not prepared skiing route “Nordhang” which leads from the Laber’s summit to the valley station, is known to be one of Germany’s steepest slopes. It’s definitely not recommended for beginners hence the piste demands intimate knowledge of the avalanche situation in the area, as well as careful behaviour and suitable equipment. With Hörnle – Bad Kohlgrub and Steckenberg, the region has two more ski areas available. They complete Oberammergau’s extensive winter sports offers.
