Ski-in, ski-out lodging is like the holy grail of a ski vacation. Nothing, except for a powder day, compares to being able to ski right to your accommodations after a long day on the slopes, or being able to pop in midday for a quick lunch or wardrobe change. You’ll find great ski-in, ski-out hotels, lodges, and more at a number of New England ski resorts. Below are a few of our top picks of the best ski-in, ski-out hotels in New England. Note: Prices listed are generalities and change regularly.

Vermont Ski-In, Ski-Out Hotels 

Grand Summit Hotel, Mount Snow

Starting out in Southern Vermont, Mount Snow‘s slopeside Grand Summit Hotel is the only ski-in, ski-out lodging at Mount Snow. Located right at the base of Mount Snow, the Grand Summit Hotel describes itself as “Vermont-inspired comfort,” with 195 rooms and suites, and a litany of great amenities, including a full-service spa, game room, a year-round heated outdoor pool and hot tubs, fitness center, steam room, and sauna. One restaurant and a deli/marketplace offer dining options, while others are within walking distance.

Guests can walk out of the back exit of the Grand Summit Hotel and right onto Mt. Snow’s ski trails. This entrance provides skiable access to the Tumbleweed chairlift and Sundance Base Lodge, or there is a walkable path to the Grand Summit Express. At this back entrance, guests can also check their skis for the night. Rooms start at $178 per night. 

Clay Brook Hotel and Residences, Sugarbush

At Sugarbush, the unique red barn-style Clay Brook Hotel and Residences welcomes guests with its picturesque trail views and amazing location at the base of Sugarbush. The Clay Brook offers an elevated ski-in, ski-out lodging experience, complete with a full ski valet, boot warming services, an indoor and outdoor pool, an indoor climbing wall, and much more. Traveling with your family or a group of friends? Go all out with its five-bedroom suites. Couples, meanwhile, can enjoy the romance of in-room Jacuzzi tubs and two outdoor jacuzzi tubs that look up at the snow-covered ski slopes.

From the hotel exit, it’s a short walk to the Gate House Express Quad, Super Bravo Express Quad, and beginner area. Sugarbush’s Clay Brook Hotel is also dog-friendly, so you don’t have to leave Fido behind. Rooms start at $330 per night.

Killington Grand Resort Hotel, Killington

While Killington, the Beast of the East, has a whopping 20-plus hotels in the area to choose from, the Grand Resort Hotel is Killington’s only full-service mountainside hotel. After a day of skiing, you don’t even have to leave the hotel thanks to Preston’s Restaurant, a cafe, the Grand Spa and Health Club, and a 75-foot heated outdoor pool with 2 hot tubs. The Grand Resort Hotel features a ton of room options, from classic hotel rooms and studios to multi-bedroom suites. Families and large groups of friends can spring for the 2- or 3-bedroom penthouses, which feature 1,500 square feet of space, a full kitchen, gas fireplace, and in-room sauna.

Mere steps away from the Snowshed base area, the Grand Resort Hotel’s prime location grants access to the slopes from December-March via a ski bridge. During the warmer months, guests can use it to walk to the Bike Park and Snowshed Adventure Center. Additionally, golfers will find the first tee of Killington’s 18-hole championship course just 200 yards from the front door of the hotel. Rooms start at $230 per night.

The Lodge at Spruce Peak, Stowe

Rounding out Vermont is The Lodge at Spruce Peak, the only slopeside ski-in, ski-out destination at Stowe Mountain Resort. Accommodations range from cozy studios with mountain views to spacious 4-bedroom penthouse residences complete with all the comforts of home. Amenities include a spa, fitness center, heated pool, and four on-property dining options. The lodge is steps away from Spruce Peak Village Center, where you can enjoy outdoor ice skating, an Adventure Center with an indoor climbing wall, the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, retail shopping, and other dining options. Pets are welcome and receive their very own bed and chew toy upon arrival. Rooms start at $330.

Maine Ski-In, Ski-Out Hotels 

Jordan Hotel, Sunday River

Heading to Maine, the Jordan Hotel at Sunday River Resort is located right on the edge of the Jordan Bowl Ski area. The Jordan Hotel offers sweeping views of the resort’s western peaks and offers direct access to the Lollapalooza trail. The hotel’s 186 rooms range from studios to 3-bedroom suites, while amenities include a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, full-service spa, complimentary resort shuttle, and a ski valet. On select Friday nights they host s’mores by the outdoor fire pits. Rooms start at $200 per night.

When you’re ready to hit the slopes, ski down to the brand-new Jordan 8 lift. A high-speed lift system, heated seats, and wind resistance makes this one of the best new lifts in New England. Note that Sunday River is also known for its cross country skiing, self-described as the Nordic Capital of Maine.

Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel, Sugarloaf

Located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel has a design inspired by the classic New England farmhouse style, providing a warm, homey place to stay with beautiful views of the Carrabassett Valley mountains. Rooms range from superior queen rooms to three-bedroom suites, all outfitted with luxurious Boyne beds. Suites include kitchenettes and separate bedrooms, while the three-bedroom, three-level penthouse suite comes decked out with a private sauna and hot tub.

Headlining the hotel amenities is a 30-person outdoor hot tub and a health club with a sauna, steam room, and fitness center. Conveniently located just off the lobby is 45 North, a breakfast and dinner restaurant featuring local beers, craft cocktails, and a chef-driven menu highlighting the flavors of Maine. Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel is 100 yards from the Super Quad lift and offers a free shuttle service around the resort. Rooms start at $150 a night. 

New Hampshire Ski-In, Ski-Out Hotels 

The Mountain Club, Loon Mountain

Working our way south into New Hampshire, the Mountain Club features 234 recently renovated rooms right at the base of Loon Mountain Resort. The Mountain Club boasts that no cookie cutters were used in the design of their guestrooms. Rooms range from romantic club rooms for two, some of which include a hot tub or balcony, to suites with well-equipped kitchens and living areas, to multi-level town home suites. After a day of skiing or riding, head back to your home away from home for après-ski at Black Diamond Pub, take a dip in the outdoor or indoor pool, enjoy the game room, or take some “me” time to enjoy a treatment at the Viaggio Spa. 

Loon Mountain’s new South Peak extension is opening this winter, so it’s the perfect time to book your stay. Rooms start at $144 per night. 

Massachusetts Ski-In, Ski-Out Hotels 

Jiminy Peak has multiple ski-in, ski-out accommodations located on either side of the resort. The Country Inn is a short walk away from the Cricket Triple, and features amenities that include a heated outdoor pool and John Harvard’s restaurant and brewery. If you have a larger party, Jiminy Peak has three condo villages — Mountainside, Village Center, and Country Village — situated right in the heart of the action, and perfect for those looking for more space. Rooms start at $150 a night.
