1.4 Snow Before You Go: Jet Stream Favors Both Coasts

The jet stream favors both coasts for snowfall over the next five days. In the Northeast, heavy snow from the nor'easter paves the way for powder conditions into the weekend with a second smaller storm on Monday-Tuesday. Out West, two storm systems are lined up.

Northeast: The nor'easter dumps heavy snow accumulations at the ski areas on Thursday. The snow continues in Maine on Friday morning then moves away. Some lake effect snow is possible in the wake of the nor'easter as well. Excellent powder conditions on Friday and Saturday at Sugarbush, Sugarloaf, Sunday River, Ragged Mountain, Cranmore and Wildcat.  A second storm system arrives Monday-Tuesday.

California: Finally there is snow in my forecast with two storm systems lined up. The second storm is more impressive. The first storm looks rather warm and delivers light to moderate snow accumulation above 8,000 feet between Friday and Saturday. The second storm delivers heavy snow above 7,500 feet Monday-Tuesday.

Colorado, Utah: There are two storm systems lined up over the next seven days. The first storm arrives in Utah by midday Saturday and into Colorado by Saturday afternoon. I'm forecasting moderate snow accumulation. The second storm system arrives Tuesday-Wednesday with heavier snow accumulation.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho: There are two storm systems lined up over the next seven days. The first storm delivers light to moderate snow accumulation on Saturday. The second storm system is stronger arriving Tuesday-Wednesday with moderate to heavy snow accumulation.

Pacific Northwest: Two consecutive storm systems will keep the snow coming over the next five days. I'm forecasting heavy snow accumulation in the high cascades and volcanoes.

Whistler/Blackcomb: Two consecutive storm systems will keep the snow coming over the next five days. I'm forecasting heavy snow accumulation.

Tomer's Take: On Friday ski Sunday River or Sugarloaf, on Saturday ski Schweitzer or Whistler/Blackcomb and on Sunday ski Steamboat or Loveland.
