Maine Ski Resorts

Maine Skiing: Made for the Most Rugged Skiers and Boarders

Maine, the northernmost state in New England, may boast the most burly, rugged skiers and snowboarders in the entire region.

Southern Maine’s Sunday River is often one of the first ski areas to open for the season and boasts an impressive 870 skiable acres of terrain. Yet, Sugarloaf, farther north, is home to the most skiable terrain on the East Coast, thanks to its recent Brackett Basin expansion, at 1,400 skiable acres.

Maine is also home to resorts like Saddleback and their Kennebago Steeps, the largest steep skiing and riding facility in the east. Or, Mt. Abram that partnered with the Mountain Rider’s Alliance to create a model for sustainable, homegrown, local resorts.
