2015/2016 Völkl Aura ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Back Category and awarded it an Editors’ Choice honor.

“This ski has attitude underfoot, yet moves through terrain with grace,” says Johnson of the Völkl Aura. Testers awarded it the highest scores in the category for float, not a surprise thanks to full rocker (a gradual bend from tip to tail) and its 100-mm waist. Highest scores also went to the Aura for stability. Last season, the Aura’s update included a wider waist (up to 100 mm), early taper in the tip and full rocker, designed to add both maneuverability and edge grip. As always, the Aura has Völkl’s race-ski style construction, which includes two sheets of titanium, vertical sidewalls and an ultra light wood core. “It’s a solid, smooth ski you can trust on- and off-piste,” says Rodman.
