Squaw Valley - Alpine Meadows - Saw the question about huge base but only partially opened. The answer is avalanche risk. Tons of snow last week. Even more this week. It's wet and heavy. Also with this blizzard winds at top were over 100mph. Mid mountain was 60mph and that was even a little sketchy. most days they've opened late, and closed early on some. I get the safety emphasis, but delays are poorly posted. Still the skiing has been great, hence the 4 stars. But also agree with past below about $$$. I'm skiing on ikon pass, but I'd be a little pissed to drop $169 for a shortened day on a partially opened mountain. - © anonymous

Squaw Valley - Alpine Meadows - Awesome day at Alpine. lift lines were sooo short it felt like a weekday (it was a Holiday Weekend). Groomers for days and soft moguls. Only way it could have been better was if Sherwood and Lakeview chairs were open. - © Eric L
