The area has some good slopes for early intermediates and beginners. You would need to catch a bus to ski at Siviez, if you want to ski there, unless you are an intermediate or experienced skier, but we liked Siviez a lot. The liftpass covers a large area. We were only there one day so didn't ski to Verbier. Nendaz is a town, so has lots to do and plenty of shops etc. Stayed in the amazing 4 Vallee and Spa Hotel where you can be in an hot outdoor pool with the snow falling on you and enjoy fabulous spa experiences. I think Switzerland is expensive but there are ways to cut down on costs and you can buy lunch foods at the supermarkets etc.
Tree skiing
Links to other valleys not great

I love coming here. Nendaz is a pretty small village but easily accessible to verbier as a skier. They have great ski schools and if you have at least 2kids I totally recommend private lessons which are very affordable. Apartments cost a fraction of what they cost in verbier, this is your best alternative if you want to ski in an amazing ski resort.
Super easy low key little village for a fraction of what verbier costs

We went to Nendaz end of January and had a great time. It snowed the week before so the conditions were great. We have three kids and the ski school up in Nendaz was excellent. The kids went in the morning and we picked them up after lunch. Nendaz is big enough for skiing a a couple of days but with the same lift pass you can see in Veyonnaz and Sivez, We rented a chalet further up from the main lift and it was very convenient with the ski bus stopping 100m from the chalet and took us to the main lift. The grocery stores are great and the italian restaurant was really nice in the main centre. I can strongly recommend Nendaz for couples and familes. Seems not be so well known to people but we had a great time. Swiss Air is flying to Sion from London in February and than you will have a 20min connection up to the main resort.
Lovey Village and great skiing plus the benefits of 4 valleys
Not very busy during the night

Great mountain lots of snow the second week of January 2017. Loved the restaurants and lifts but of you don't like t bars as lifts go to the other mountains in this area because you will not see them if you are here. I had a blast but my two little snowboarders struggled on the T Bar connection to the other mountain.
Good trails for the ones they have
Cannot get over to the other mountians without going on the T Bars

Nendaz (and strictly Siviez, 7 minutes drive from Nendaz) is in the geographical centre of the Four Valleys ski region which contains very adequate reds and blues and a plethora of excellent ski schools. Nendaz has particularly good creche facilities. But the area is famous for its variety and quantity of challenging runs, far more truly black and marked runs than any other European ski area. Chassoure (wrongly called Tortin by the Brits) and Gentiane have many different routes down but then there is Mont Gele, also with a number of variations, Col des Mines and Vallon d'Arby and then probably the best marked itineraire anywhere, Eteygeon. Such a pity about the rubbish lifts but if this helps to reduce the crowds, so be it. But reading other reviews, be warned; Nendaz is NOT 90 minutes from Geneva, but at least 2 hours.
Best challenging skiing in the Alps
Crowds in Verbier; poor uphill transport in Nendaz/Siviez and dreadful uphill transport in Veysonnaz
Haute Nendaz is situated at 1500m on a sunny plateau high above the Rhone Valley. It is a 90 min drive by car or train ride from Geneva Airport, or 30 min from Sion Airport. It is a compact small town with a fair amount of restaurants & bars and few nightclubs. It isn't a big party town but it is very pleasant and down to earth place to be, not at all posh. The resort is very family friendly and welcoming to tourists. The Cabane Restaurant for example is a great place to eat raclette or fondue. It is a good base from which to access the Verbier sector and the rest of 4 Vallées - if the Prarion connection is shut the free ski bus to Siviez takes about 15 minutes. The Telecabine is large for the village and queues are rare. The town is well-cared for and the snowploughs clear all roads by early morning each day in the winter. The Migros supermarket has great fresh produce; there are a few smaller supermarkets higher up in the village. It has everything you come to expect from a big resurt but the prices are significantly less than Verbier. It has a Couple of hotels and lots of self-catering apartments. Chalets are available on the upper side of the village round the Telecabine and on the way to Siviez.
better value than Verbier, whole resort accessable from here
if link slopes/ lifts close you need to take a bus or car to Sivier
Haute Nendaz is situated at 1500m on a sunny plateau high above the Rhone Valley. Handy for Geneva at 90 mins by road or rail. Compact small town with 35+ restaurants and bars and a couple of nightclubs but nothing very racy - a St Anton party town it isn't. Nor is it pretentious a la Megeve or Gstaad. In fact it's very down to earth and not posh in the least. The locals are nice people who welcome tourists and the resort is very family-friendly. (There's none of the 'them and us' thing that goes on between the Brits and the French in the Trois Vallees). The Cabane for example is a great restaurant and the take-away pizzas from the Italian restaurant are magnificent. Good base from which to access the Verbier high red runs (and the blacks if you're up for it) - if the Prarion connection is shut the free ski bus to Siviez takes about 10 minutes. The telecabine is large for the village and queues are rare. The town is well-cared for and the snowploughs clear all roads (main and side) by 7am each day in the winter. Couple of hotels and loads of self-catering chalets and apartments - the Migros supermarket has great fresh produce and Pam sells excellently priced spirits and wines - the local ones are a real treat.
Better value than Verbier and ski-linked to the entire 4-valley area
Only run back from Plan de Fou is a black - or take the telecabine
