Followed gates to Huckabee. top gates closed. Found open gate. went thru and into Huck. I've been there before and knew that a rope or signage would be down canyon to direct us back to ski area. WRONG!!!! Nothing. Ended up 1.5 miles out of area and ended up at Highway 50, thank god! If we weren't expert skiers and had GPS on our phones, could have been serious. Went into tell ski patrol after we thumbed back to area. We only wanted to make sure that it doesn't happen to anyone else. They assumed we were complaining in order to get something for free!!! They said that they would send patrol to look.
great terrain
ski patrol doesnt do their job, almost serious!

My main gripe is with the totally unrealistic reporting of snow conditions we barely had snow cover on piste with snow cannons in use and icy base layer showing in patches on most runs with a third of the runs being unusable due to a lack of snow even though this site was reporting 200cm at top and 50cm at bottom which was a complete lie
easy to get too very nice village with plenty to do
when there is poor snow half the resort has major queues to get to the

I have been skiing in the sierra nevada over quite a a few seasons. It's just great skiing at a great price for accommodation food and drinks. The people are really welcoming. .. and then there just Granada. What more can you ask.

Skied in lots of countries and have to say this is the best value skiing I have come across. Great runs, smart wee town, prices in bars and restaurants not ripping you off, lots of choice, plenty places to hire or buy ski equipment, parking facilities at site very easy to access and priced ok at 14 euro app for the day.We stayed in Granada and drove a 40 minute drive, very easy to navigate. No complaints.
Great runs, prices are fair, Spanish people.
None.

Can't believe how much snow there is. I thought it would be just a small snow area in southern Europe, possibly no working every year, etc., etc. ¡How wrong I was! ¡How long slopes! The slopes are so wide too. From the top, you can see the mediterranean sea an Africa on clear days.
Bigger than you may imagine. Wide and long slopes
Expensive

Just back from a weeks skiing, We love it but due to a heat wave pistes were icy first thing, good through middle part of day but very slushy at end of day. However sun was wonderful in evenings for sitting outside bars. My partner skis on one leg with outriggers and the width of the pistes gives her plenty of turning room. I understand weather has returned to more normal temperatures now.
Big wide pistes
Crowded at weekends

Just returned following a great long weekend, 17-19 January, what a hidden gem of a place! Arrived late on a Friday night, via cheap flight to Malaga and hire car to resort, hotel offered to organise our lift pass when we arrived, so we were on the slopes at 9.30am. Lots of ski hire shops, some open late at night. Resort had no new snow for a month, but snowmaking and grooming ensured a good first day with 50% pistes open. Had a 30cm snow dump on Sat, despite whiteout, skiing still good. Monday even better with lots of powder, but numerous slopes well bashed. No queues during whole weekend. Resort is lively at night, lots of good bars and tapas.
Piste variety, no queues, great for beginners and intermediates.
Lots of tumbling snowboarders

I would book again next year but not for a weekend as so many people long queues Did not have time to check out whole resort as only stopped two days for actual ski-ing. Would like to do a longer stint next year as it is not far from where I live 2 to 3 hours away. Fabulous though.
Lovely and sunny good runs
booked for weekend too many people

Sierra Nevada is a fun place to be. It is not particularly big, but has a good assortment of mostly red and blue runs. The scenery on a good day is stunning. The crowd there appears to be overall friendly and good-spirited. The resort has very good conditions for skiers, from the solo skiers, to big groups and families. Night life is wild (although it usually kills your performance on the slopes the morning after.) ;-) It can be tricky on some windy days, when big parts of the slopes must be shut off and in recent years it has been getting more and more expensive (although it still is a relatively cheap place to ski). Not for the big mountain, highly adventurer skier, but definitely worth a visit with a group of friends for a fun all-around ski vacation.
Good snow, fun pistes, excellent night life
Not much diversity in runs
