First of all the Lecht is a great little resort. With it only being 45 minute car journey away from me, it makes for the perfect half day shred when you know the weather is good. Every year they build a really fun rail park at the bottom beside the beginner area and is perfect to walk up and ride down all day. As for the rest of the runs, they are OK, nothing special, really short. But go up with a few of your mates and you will still have a blast. food prices are expensive but nowhere near the likes of the other resorts in Scotland. Also you can be sure of at least 2 lifts breaking down on your visit which makes queues on the other lifts sometimes unbearable. All in all the Lecht is great, friendly, fun and best of all CHEAP! I would recommend going especially if you are a beginner.
decent value, great for half or full day shred, friendly staff
runs too short, lift queues can be bad, constant lift breakdowns

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 star resort had a great time would recommend it to every one!!!
This is a great ski resort, was up today for th I first time and was well impressed in the overall running of the resort,I am only a beginner so can't comment on the bigger runs bet they seemed very busy enough so to me that would mean they are good. The c
the only con is the distance between runs but the.way the resort is played out this could not be helped and you will find the further away ones were quieter,so maybe not so much a con? ?

When I first saw the piste map of the Lecht, I must admit that I wasn't really expecting much for an intermediate skier. However I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the skiing the Lecht had to offer. We had travelled up from Nottingham for half term & we were staying about half an hour north of the Lecht, which also situated in an hour of Glenshee and Cairngorm. On arriving at the Lecht, the slopes looked surprisingly larger than the piste map, which already gave me a good impression. Ski hire was quick and easy but if possible take your own gear as some days I assume they can sell out quickly. However the disadvantage of ski hire was the quality. Most of the boots and skis are over 15 years old and look fairly dated. Don't expect anything on par with the Alps. After this, it was fairly easy to access the slopes as they are just out the door from ski hire. Generally lifts open up, as the day progresses so don't be concerned if only half the lifts are open to start with. Personally I would recommend the grouse poma as it gives you access to the top of the hill, with some nice blue runs on either side. As a whole, the actual skiing is brilliant, with most slopes starting off fairly flat and then becoming steep towards the end. Unfortunately on the other side of the valley, there are two nice reds and a blue, but you have to take your gear off to cross the road and then hike uphill to the draglift, which isn't very convenient. As far as the catering goes, in the day lodge, there is a nice bar and cafe which is good quality but not alpine, however you do feel hungry as you smell the food as you come in at lunch. After skiing however, there is not much around. There are a few pubs in Tomintoul but you must remember that this is the middle of the highlands. To sum up, the Lecht is a surprisingly good day out which offers some quality skiing, but unfortunately, one day there is all you will need. Booking a week ticket is not a good idea as you have usually skied all the runs in a day. Also, buy your tickets on the day as snow is never guaranteed in Scotland, and you don’t want to be left disappointed.
Small Queues, Good Catering On Site, Value For Money & Overall Good Skiing
Small Runs, Slow Lifts, No Link Between The East & West Slopes, Poor Rental
good resort but wait for more snow to go when it is brill. good day out me and my family throughly enjoyed it and it is worth taking time off work to go. the runs werent in that good condition but still ok to board and ski
good staff, very friendly, easy to ski
rental is terrible you have to wait for hours

The Lecht makes a good fun day trip from Inverness or Aberdeen and is worth taking a day out for as part of a longer trip to north Scotland. The runs are quite short and quite similar across bare open hillside with no tree cover. Nearly all the lifts are old tow lifts although there is one slow old chairlift too. My little brother (aged 7) was lifted in to the air by the drag lifts and did a pefect 720 spin hanging off the rope before landing again! The Lecht can open with very little snow and does tend to open when other Scottish ski areas aren't. It was the first to open for winter 08-09 on Halloween 2008. The area got a new base lodge a few years ago so all the facilities like rentals, lift ticket and resataurant are all in one modrern building and you park right next to it so everything is very close and convenient. Prices are readsonable and the people friendly, the only problem was the rentals we got were really terrible, a real disgrace really, and it was hard to stand up with them as it was like trying to ski on pieces of soft rubber.
Nice little area, compact, good value, friendly.
Terrible rentals, access road dodgy if fresh snow.
