I have been coming to Vorlage recently because of my son who is of preschool age and still learning. In terms of pros, Vorlage serves most of his needs as the hills are never busy, they have a good sized ski school and the hill is close enough to Ottawa that my son doesn’t ask the “are we there yet” question too many times before we arrive. The runs are kept in good shape which is also a plus for this location. However, in terms of cons, the only way to get up the hill is via a chairlift and so if you are dealing with small children who are beginners you will likely have to work with the lifties to either help lift the child or slow the chair down, and some of the lifties are more or less attentive depending on who’s on duty. Twice now I have booked private lessons for my son (he’s too distracted for group at this stage) and both times the office staff have reported a scheduling conflict (after I paid) and so had to bump us to another time slot. It seems that private lessons have less priority and so they have less incentive to actually honour your “reservation”. Finally, I find the lodge less than comfortable. It is very basic with cafeteria-like pic-nic tables, and the thermostat must be set too low, as the lodge always feels chilly and damp.
Never busy; short lift lines; good grooming; lots of instructors; lots of parking and
Problems with lesson bookings; lodge has basic amenities & is cold & damp;

Excellent location less than 30 minutes away from Ottawa!
Great groomed trails. The best in the Outaouais region.

I learned to ski at Vorlage and had a blast when I was a kid. I brought my 2 kids there last year and they had a great time. Pretty much the same as when I was a kid, only now you can legally ski under one of the chairs. It's not usually as busy as the other local hills and the grooming is by far the best in the area.
family oriented
max 2 per chair

I was there with others on the Saturday after a 20 cm dump and had a great time. In spite of arriving at 10AM we still had first tracks in powder snow and it kept on coming. This year the snow has been exceptional due to nature co-operating with actual powder to ski on many times. Snow making is good and they work hard at getting the terrain is shape to spread the skiers over many runs. It is not as crowded as other hills, and the lift capacity matches the slope capacity so you don't have to dodge skiers as much. This hill is located right in the village of Wakefield, in close proximity to Ottawa. It is easy to get to.
Good familly hill, good beginner hill
Small elevation, short runs

Went to Vorlage on a Friday night after work. Almost no one on the mountain and no lines at all at chairlifts. 3 chairlifts were running on the 3 different faces of the hill, all of which had no line ups. Good cheap price for an evening of skiing, at just over $20/per person. Lots of snow and well groomed. Only complaint is that after a couple of hours, for an intermediate/advance skier, it can get boring, as it only takes about a minute to get down the hill, and traveling between chairlifts is a little long as there is lots of flat land between the 3. great hill to learn on or to ski for a young family.
good snow, no lines, not busy, price
small hill,

lower skier traffic which is great for kids.
chair lift out of operation....lose access to two of the best hills.

New to skiing and we all signed up for weekly lessons (4yr old, 10yr old and parent). There are some really nice beginner hills that allows the wee ones to graduate immediately off the bunny hill and learn quickly with longer gentle runs. Ski school was well organized, nice kids, and little ones each had jr instructors to help them ride the lifts and support learning. Great family atmosphere, lots of anglophones as well as francophones, all within 40min of home (Nepean). Not as many unsupervised teenagers bombing hills, safe environment, let me 10yr old ski with friends. Equipment felt safe, mostly left unlocked. Not overly crowded, line-ups reasonable on most visits. Only complaint is that the bathrooms in the lodge often smelled foul and number of toilets were constantly out-of-order (always one or two available though). Bathrooms could use some maintenance and even more regular cleanings. Overall, great family ski hill and we'll be back next year for lessons. Wakefield offers nice selection of restaurants and pubs for apres-ski.
Easy slopes for Kids to learn on. Big lodge. Family oriented. Safe and Not overcrowded.
Bathrooms could use maintenance. Very advanced skiiers may not be challenged enough.

Good resort with a variety of kid friendly hills. Hill isn't very high, but lift lines are short so you can get a lot of consecutive runs in all day long. Not too many teens showing off. Safe and fun for pre-teen skiiers and their moms and dads.
Great place to ski with the little ones all day.
Small hill.
This is a great place to learn with the kids as the lines are never long and the terrain is pretty small. Dont come here if you want to do some serious skiing / boarding as you will be bored.
Good for kids to learn on, close to city
lifts are too far from the lodge, runs are short
