British skiers can expect less crowded slopes and better value for money next February half term.

The half term week is usually one of the most expensive, crowded weeks in the ski calendar. However next year, Britain's spring half term falls one week before the majority of schools in Europe.

Our half term dates are Feb. 11-19, while most schools in France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria don't break up until the following week.

British families won't have to pay the high premium for skiing in a peak holiday, instead you can expect to find some good deals, but remember to shop around.

Pierre & Vacances, which specialises in self-catering accommodation in France, says prices for ski accommodation during February half term in 2012 are 33 percent cheaper than last year.

As well as cheaper prices on accommodation, British families can expect fewer crowds, meaning shorter queues for the lifts and fewer problems booking ski lessons.
