Kitzbuehel doesn't officially open for the winter season until Nov. 28, but excellent snow conditions have led to early weekend skiing from Oct. 24.
This is the second year in a row that Kitzbuehel has broken its earliest opening record. All the resorts of the Kitzbueheler Alps have reported almost a metre of new snow already, offering perfect conditions for weekend skiers and snowboarders.
The Bergbahn AG Kitzbuehel began operating its lifts on the weekend of Oct. 24 and plans to continue opening them every weekend until the area's official opening Nov. 28.
Kitzbuehel boasts 168 kilometres of ski runs for all levels, ranging from nursery slopes to the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill racing piste for experts. Freestylers can practise the latest tricks at Boarders Paradise on the Kizbueheler Horn. Ski slopes are served by 56 modern ski lifts including the new 3S gondola. Free ski buses connect the ski slopes in the area.
Alpine restaurants are scattered across the mountains and serve hot beverages and homemade meals. Kitzbuehel's town centre is lined with plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants, and exclusive shops. Other winter activities in the Kitzbueheler Alps include adventure walking, cross-country skiing, Nordic walking, and ice curling.
