The Swiss resort of Nendaz has updated its Tortin-Gentianes cable car in time for the 2009-10 ski season.
The Tortin-Gentianes was built in 1981 and, after 28 years of taking skiers up to the summit of Genitanes, it has undergone extensive renovations this summer.
The cabins have been replaced by brand new cabins with automatic doors offering panoramic views of the Alps and Mont-Fort. Skiers using this new cable car will find boarding time has been significantly reduced thanks to its speed and capacity.
Nendaz is set in the heart of the 4 Valleys and has a total of 412 kilometres of pistes and 92 lifts. The ski domain of Nendaz, unique and varied, ranges from 1350 to 3300 metres.
The resort also meets the needs of freeriders with plenty of untouched nature and powder snow. The Nendaz Snowpark offers various kickers, rails, and boxes. It features two parks of different levels, contests, a mini snow-skate park, and Croq'bar.
The area around Mont-Fort offers exceptional scenery and is a major excursion point for non-skiers. From Nendaz it's possible to get to Siviez by shuttle bus or by car. There is a crossroads of ski domains from Siviez, allowing you to ski in the direction of Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon, or Verbier.
