A new women's program is launching at Fernie Alpine Resort. Ladies Who Ski, taught by Maureen Mosteller, aims at notching up the skills of intermediate and advanced skiers. The program, which launched first in February, runs again Mar. 21-22.
"There is a need for this type of clinic," Mosteller told OnTheSnow.com. "It's a chance for women to learn more about their needs on snow, while making new ski friends to hook up with in the future. Plus, it's always great if you not only look good in your outfit, but if you can actually ski hot!"
Mosteller, who is an ambassador for Rossignol, hails from an extensive ski racing and coaching background. The program she designed for Ladies Who Ski includes on slope coaching, ski drill exercises, visualization techniques, and personalized instruction with video and analysis-all aimed at improving confidence and being a more aggressive skier.
She came upon the idea for the clinic when she worked on the slope with a friend who hadn't been skiing for a while. "She started out intimidated, but by the end she could feel the difference in her skiing and confidence," explained Mosteller. Her friend suggested she start Ladies Who Ski.
The $150 program runs 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a gourmet lunch included on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 403-710-0119.
"I want women to feel confident about their skiing," said Mosteller, "and then I want them to take their boyfriends or husbands out skiing and teach them a thing or two!"
