The VallNord ski area has undergone significant improvements in time for the winter season. Skiers to Arcalis, Arinsal, and Pal will benefit from new chairlifts, more snow machines, and refurbished mountain restaurants.
There will be 15 more snow machines in the Arcalis area (Portella del Mig and Basera trails), with a three-kilometre enlargement of the snow making area. The remodelling and adaptation of the Tunel trail in Arcalis area also will benefit beginners; it will change from blue (medium) to green (easy). There's something new for experts too: the bravest skiers can enjoy speed riding - an activity combining paragliding and skiing.
Further improvements in Arcalis include the widening of De la Portella trail at its narrowest part, a new Leitner snow plough, the remodelling of the freestyle area, and a new fast-food service at Planells.
Arinsal will benefit from a new six-seater chairlift, offering a faster and more comfortable connection from 1550 to 1950 metres. The area also will have 31 new snow machines to guarantee 100 percent snow.
Additional improvements in Arinsal include the remodelling of the freestyle area, a new Kassbohrer snow plough, and the new Creperie and Gaufrerie mountain restaurant. Upcoming news for Arinsal's 2009-10 season includes further expansion of the snowmaking area to include the Marrades trail.
Pal's improvements for this season feature a new chairlift at Pla de la Tosa, which will duplicate transport capacity from Pal to Arinsal, Seturia and Coll de la Botella. There also will be a new freestyle area for beginners, a widening of the Del CAmi Inferior trail, and a new fast-food joint in the Caubella Building.
