Even from a distance of many years, it is possible to remember clearly the incredible, terror-laced thrill of sliding down a very gentle hill on skis for the first time and turning into an uphill stop without falling over
Wintergreen instructors say anyone can have that feeling.
"For first-time skiers and riders (age 6 and older) Wintergreen Resort guarantees that our excellent teaching staff will have you turning, stopping, and even riding a lift by the end of your first lesson. If not, you can repeat the lesson at no charge," the resort says.
Wintergreen has programs for all ages and abilities.
The Guaranteed Learn to Ski/Ride Program is among several instructional offerings.
Others include Group Lessons, Private Lessons, Specialty Clinics, First Tracks and Wintergreen Adaptive Skiing.
Wintergreen also offers two-day Women's Ski Seminars for women who want to move up to the next level. This non-beginner program is held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with a lunch break at noon. The $150 fee covers two days of instruction. Lift tickets and lunch are additional. Wintergreen, located on 11,000 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, has 26 slopes and trails served by five chairlifts and two surface lifts, 129 skiable acres, a vertical drop of 1,003 feet, two snowtubing parks, two terrain parks, and full snowmaking coverage.
