Alberta and eastern British Columbia are amping up for Calgary's 20th annual ski show. It's schedule for Nov. 8-9 at the Roundup Centre in Stampede Park. Over $30,000 in door prizes will be given away at the event.

The grand prize is a whomper. One lucky winner will receive a full season condominium rental and two season lift passes at Panorama Resort in B. C.

Big Red Cats, a catskiing adventure company in Rossland, B.C., will conduct a transceiver search at 1 p.m. on Saturday to locate a beacon hidden somewhere on the showroom floor. You can bring your own transceiver or use one of theirs. The winner receives a weekend of catskiing for two.

Banff Lake Louise Tourism, sponsor the main stage events, brings on games, competitions, and live entertainment. You can toss snowballs, build snowmen, and even meet the Snowy Owl Sled Dogs.

Part of the show includes the Calgary Ski and Board Swap. You can unload your old gear and clothing during show hours for consignment and in doing so, get in free to the show. The 20 percent commission on your consignment goes to support the Calgary Alpine Racing Club.

Admission to the show is $9 for adults and $7 for students 12 to 17 years old. Kids under 12 years old are admitted for free.
