Devotees of Snowbird's steep bowls and waist-deep powder now have no excuses for knowing what is going on at their favorite resort.
The Utah resort has unveiled a new version of its iPhone application that allows users to navigate around real-time and interactive features, including more user-generated content, according to the resort.
The free app now divides into "Snow," "Go," "Show" and "Share" tabs, and provides access to Facebook, Twitter, and photo-sharing.
The "Snow" tab bundles snow reports and weather forecasts (Doppler radar map included) with additional on-mountain cameras, Twitter feeds and links to the Utah Avalanche Center and National Weather Service. The "Go" tab relays road information in Little Cottonwood Canyon, the access into Snowbird, as well as an interactive trail map that can be toggled around the mountain.
The "Show" and "Share" tabs bring photos and tweets from skiers and riders into the Snowbird.com website, through Flickr.com. Users also get access to their own Facebook and Twitter accounts through the iPhone application. The popular Day Counter keeps track of a user's time on the mountain.
The latest version can be found at the Apple App Store. The previous version of the Snowbird app attracted 30,000 active users, according to the resort's press release.
