OK, food fans, here's a deal at Waterville Valley in the White Mountains of New Hampshire that appeals on several levels.
It's fun, it's different, it involves food, and it ends with a run down an easy trail in the dark, with the way lighted by torches.
The resort is running Starry Nights at Sunnyside Feb. 5 and March 5 for 60 guests.
It's dinner on the mountain, with a chairlift ride to start, fine dining at Sunnyside Timberlodge, then a torchlight ski or snowboard trip back down Valley Run.
The evening is for skiers and riders age 16 and up, and costs $100 per person, plus tax.
Guests have exclusive use of the Valley Run Quad Lift 5:45 to 6 p.m.; beer, wine, and hors d'oeuvres 6 to 6:30 p.m.; four-course gourmet buffet dinner including rack of lamb, salmon, beef tenderloin, and a vegetarian dish, with choice of homemade pies and cakes for dessert at 6:30 p.m.; entertainment at 7:30 p.m., consisting of storytelling by host Jung and music; ending with a torchlight parade down Valley Run.
More information: Reservations are required no later than the Wednesday before each date, by calling Therese at 603-236-8311 ext. 3000, or 800-468-2553.
