Angel Fire sought to extend the season to April following record snowstorms in December, January and February, but will instead close on March 25. Their big finale weekend includes free skiing and snowboarding on Friday for all New Mexico residents. "This has been an unforgettable winter season for all of the New Mexico ski areas," said Jon Mahanna, general manager at Angel Fire Resort. "We had hoped to keep it going as long as possible. However unseasonably warm temperatures in March are making it difficult to guarantee the great conditions much beyond what we originally planned. Bottom-line, we'll have excellent skiing and riding here through the 25th." While Pajarito and Sandia Peak closed for the winter season, Red River plans to end their season also on March 25. Enchanted Forest Cross Country hopes to have enough snow left that weekend to celebrate Dog Days - skiing with Fido. While Taos, Sipapu, and Ski Santa Fe are sticking with their April 8 closure dates, Ski Apache still hasn't announced their plans.
