Ski Big Bear in Lackawaxen, Pa., is planning to run late over the Christmas holiday vacation week, and stay open until midnight on New Year's Eve, for skiers and snowboarders who want to ring in 2011 on the slopes.
Resort hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 26 through Jan. 2, with skiing and riding until midnight Dec. 31.
Ski Big Bear also set Dec. 26 as the start date for night skiing and tubing.
Several of the resort's passes kick in then, as well. The Any Night Season Pass begins Dec. 26.
The Friday Night Pass starts Jan. 7, with free skiing Sunday Jan. 9 for passholders.
The Saturday Night Pass starts Jan. 8, and passholders also can ski Sunday Jan. 9.
The ski area plans a series of Friday night rail jams, beginning Jan. 7, with finals on Saturday, Feb. 5. Ride rails and hit jumps in this four-week series in the Terrain Park. Entry fee is $5, plus a lift ticket. Registration is 4 to 6 p.m. Fridays in the Lodge, with competition 7 to 8 p.m. Registration for the finals is 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday Feb. 5, with competition 6 to 7 p.m.
