Sunshine Village takes advantage of its location straddling the high Continental Divide in Banff National Park. Its elevation allows the resort to run spring skiing and riding well into May.
Sunshine wraps up its ski and snowboard season with a smash-bang ending May 24 featuring the annual Slush Cup. This year celebrates the 82nd year of the pond skimming competition that caps the season with a big party and music.
Skiers and riders also can get three deals on lodging in Sunshine Mountain Lodge in May. The slopeside lodge with a new wing that opened this winter offers dining with alpenglow colors painting the slopes, a large outdoor hot tub, and renovated luxury rooms. Reaching the lodge requires taking a 15-minute gondola ride, which ensures night time quiet at the lodge.
One package gives two additional nights free with the purchase of three nights of lodging. Five days of lift tickets are included.
Rooms in the lodge are on sale, too. Superior and deluxe rooms are on sale starting at $143 CAD per person. Packages include a lift ticket for the following day for each night's stay, VIP parking, and a $30 food voucher per person. The sale rate, which is based on double occupancy, is available through May 20.
The family room special can accommodate a family of four in a premium room starting at $119 CAD per person per night through May 20. The lodge's new family rooms feature two queen beds, a fireplace, and heated floors. The package includes two adult and two youth tickets for the next day's skiing, VIP parking, and a $60 food voucher per room.
