Sun Peaks Resort rolls from one season to the next, swapping stay and ski packages for stay and play packages. Summer brings on mountain biking, hiking, and golf.

The Sun Peaks Golf Course is scheduled to open May 22. Preparations for the spring opening started in February when crews removed the snow from the greens with grooming machines and snow blowers. The green were then covered with fungicide and tarps to allow the grass to grow.

The Sunburst Express runs daily in summer for sightseeing, access to hiking trails, and lift-served mountain biking June 26 through Sept. 7. Then, the lift operates only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through September 26. Other activities at the resort include tennis, swimming, paddling canoes or kayaks, a bungee trampoline, and guided fly-fishing.

Sun Peaks Resort offers several summer lodging packages that include activities at the resort. Lodging packages with mountain biking start at $79 per person per night. Packages that include lodging and alpine hiking start at $60 per person per night while stay and play packages for midweek golf start at $105 per person per night.

Rates, which are based on one night of accommodations and one day of the activity, require double occupancy in a standard hotel room or studio suite. Upgrades to other lodges are also available. The mountain biking and hiking packages must coincide with operating dates for the chairlift. Golf package rates are valid May 22-Oct. 11.
