Formigal, Spain's largest resort, has revamped its winter facilities this year with a new sleigh ride, two new restaurants, and improvements on the slopes.
The new sleigh ride takes place on the illuminated Rio run - hop on a classical wooden sleigh and ride to the heart of the resort.
Formigal has also expanded its food options with two new restaurants next to the slopes: the Poblado Indio (Indian Village) offers seating in two enormous teepees and the Cantal Trattoria serves traditional Italian cuisine. A new DJ café-bar in the Sextas base station will be open daily from 4 p.m. onwards daily.
There have been changes on the slopes too: the downhill slope has been widened in the mid-section and is lined with new snow canons. Formigal also has expanded their fleet of slope grooming and compacting machines with two new vehicles.
The resort offers access to 137 kilometres of pistes with runs for all levels (seven green runs, 18 blue, 22 red, and 39 black). The highest point is Tres Hombres peak at 2250 metres with a vertical drop of 750 metres. Formigal is a purpose-built resort at 1500 metres with modern lifts, including an eight-seater chairlift and a gondola.
