Ski New Hampshire and its 36 member resorts will be participating in a program in January to introduce potential guests to the sports of skiing and snowboarding.  Learn a Snow Sport Month is a program taking place across the United States that features special offers making it easy and affordable for people to learn to ski, snowboard, cross country ski or snowshoe.

Among the special offers being featured in New Hampshire is Learn to Ski & Ride Free Week Jan. 4-10.  During this week, 14 NH ski areas will be offering a limited number of free learn to ski or snowboard packages.  These packages include equipment rentals, a beginner lesson and beginner lift ticket to those who register in advance.

Interested? Go online (see "More Information" below)  to register and download a Learn to Ski or Ride Free Coupon; then contact one of the 14 participating areas to make a reservation for a specific day that week.

SkiNH areas have other incentive programs in January, including savings on lift tickets for those who bring a friend to try the sport, special pricing on learn to ski or ride packages, and follow-up rewards for first timers who choose to hit the slopes or trails again.

Visitors to the SkiNH Web site can also enter to win a learn to ski or snowboard getaway for two.  The grand prize includes two days of beginner lessons at Wildcat Mountain and overnight accommodations at the Eagle Mountain House in Jackson.  Second place prizes include learn to ski or snowboard packages from Pats Peak and Cranmore.  The contest ends Jan. 31 and winners will be notified the first week of February.
