Catch a Ride to Loveland And Relax

Avoid the drive to Loveland by taking a ride on the Front Range Ski Bus. The bus runs Thursdays through Sundays leaving from three Front Range locations.

“It’s perfect for someone who doesn’t have their own transportation who wants to come up for a day of skiing but wants to avoid driving themselves,” says John Sellers with Loveland. The mountain used to get a lot of phone calls and emails every year from people in Denver who want to come up for skiing but don’t have the transportation. “We’re happy that someone has stepped in to fill that void.”

Martin Beran runs the bus service and agrees. He says, “It’s a way to avoid the hassle of driving and getting up there and then you can spend your entire day enjoying the day instead of having to have periods of time where you have to sit in traffic.” He adds that there’s music on the bus and it is a laid-back party atmosphere.

The Front Range Ski Bus leaves from three Front Range locations: Sports Authority in South Denver, Union Station, and the Wooly Mammoth Park-and-Ride off I-70. The Ski Bus also goes to Keystone, and A-Basin, and new routes will soon be added.

Loveland has some big events coming up in February. The biggest is the 21st Annual Mountaintop Matrimony Service on Valentine’s Day. It’s a Loveland tradition. Pre-register online to get the two-for-one lift ticket special. Show up with your honey and get married or renew your vows at 12,050 feet in altitude.

The Family Race Day is another popular event and Loveland. It’s coming up from 10 a.m to 2 p.m Saturday, Feb. 25, on the Firecut, off Chair 2. It’s open to skiers and riders of all ages and abilities. Race for bragging rights. Sign up is that morning.

Finally, Never Summer Industries is hosting a photo rail jam Sunday, Feb. 26. Never Summer takes pictures and hands out swag, and then posts the top 25 photos on their Facebook page. The winner is the one with the most “Likes,” and that lucky person gets a new Never Summer snowboard. It’s free. You’ll just need a lift ticket and signed waiver. Never Summer just did it at Echo Mountain and Andrew Dereniuk took first place. More Photo Jams will be at Sugarbush March 3, Smugglers’ Notch March 4, Monarch March 17, and The Canyons April 7.
