Lake Placid is best known for its superb skiing at Whiteface Mountain and as being the two-time site of the Winter Olympics. However, the Lake Placid region offers far more than world-class skiing in the Adirondacks. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be an Olympic slider, Whiteface is the place to start. Accompanied by a professional driver and brakeman, visitors can experience bobsled rides during the summer and winter months.
Other on-mountain activities for the warmer months include summer tubing, an adventure zone, four-wheel-drive tours, nature treks and horseback riding. Lift-served mountain biking to the summit of Little Whiteface provides access to 27 trails ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert. Off the mountain, visitors can drive through the Cascade Lakes or visit Adirondack Park, which offers miles of lakes, ponds and rivers.
