Almost endless pistes in the ski areas Nordkette, Patscherkofel, Axamer Lizum, Mutteralm, Rangger Köpfl, Glungezer, Schlick2000, Stubaier Gletscher, and Kühtai are easily accessible via modern lifts or skyrides and it is similarly easy to reach the valley station via the free of charge shuttle bus. The ski area Axamer Lizum, 18 km away from Innsbruck, offers well-groomed pistes for all levels of difficulties. The unspoiled ski area Glungezer (ca. 12 km from Innsbruck) offers sunny pistes that are very well suited for families. The offers in Innsbruck are diverse. Innsbruck was not for no reason the venue of the only two times Austria was the scene of the Winter Olympics.
